Hockey NSW COVID Update #13 - 09/09/21 - UPDATE

Good Morning All COVID Contacts

I am sure everyone around the state is well and truly over lockdown by now, with some areas and regions still remaining in lockdown we just wanted to reach out and let everyone know that us at Hockey NSW are here to help where and when we can. Please feel free to shoot us an email or a call whenever required. R U OK Day was yesterday which is a great reminder to reach out to your friends and family throughout these times just to check in. I have linked to the R U OK website above, there is some great resources on there about how to reach out and what to do.

COVID Update

After the NSW Governments announcement today that outlines their roadmap to freedom and also the lifting of lockdown in SOME regional areas in NSW.

There is still NO COMMUNITY SPORT to go ahead in those regional areas that are out of lockdown. As outlined in the roadmap to freedom it states that ‘when NSW hits the 80 per cent double dose target, the government intends to open up further freedoms around international travel, community sport, major events and other areas.’

If my Region is out of lockdown can my club/association go train?

Hockey NSW recommends that facilities remain shut and that no training is to occur while there is no community sport allowed.

Although the restrictions for areas out of lockdown states that ‘sporting facilities including swimming pools can reopen’ & ‘up to 20 people can gather in outdoor settings’, we recommend that facilities remain closed. Venue Operators/Associations would be open to fines if they or their users were caught breaking these NSW Government restrictions and it would be a big responsibility for volunteers to monitor this. This is why we recommend to remain closed while no community sport is allowed.

What Regions are out of lockdown & what are their restrictions?
